# Joining two columns

In Turium, you can merge two columns with the same or different data types. The merge operation results in a new column that contains all fields in both columns.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that you cannot merge columns of type Boolean and Bytes with any other column.
{% endhint %}

To merge two columns, follow these steps:

1. Check the box to the right of the name of each column you want to merge.
2. Click the drop-down button next to the column name.
3. Click Merge two columns.
4. To set the order of the values in the new column, click the up/down arrows.
5. Choose a delimiter:
   * Comma
   * Pipe
   * Colon
   * Period
   * Dash
   * Underscore
   * Space
   * Custom delimiter
6. Provide a name for the new column.
7. Click Merge.

Turium merges the columns and adds a merge directive to the recipe. When you run the data axon, the transformation will be applied to all values in the column.

You can scroll to the far right to view the new column that contains all fields in both columns.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.turium.ai/home/algoreus/turium-connector-documentation/turium-fabriq-overview/how-to-guides/soma-transformation-user-guide/joining-two-columns.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
